Grant Williams, 69 of Arkansas City died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his residence.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
Grant was born September 3, 1943 to Richard Williams and Beryl Lennox (Wilkinson) Williams in Westerly, RI. He attended Wheeler High School in North Stonington, CT and Cowley County Community College graduating with honors in 1975. Grant married Gloria Sue Olvera and later Bernice Ann Muhl. He worked for various meat packing companies across the United States. Grant was currently employed with Mossberg Sanitation. He served on the USS Barney in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post #18. He also was an accomplished author and was recognized as one of the top 100 authors in Kansas history. He was currently Treasurer of the Kansas Authors Association.
Grant is survived by his children and grandchildren; Chris Williams of Peck, KS, James Williams and wife Teri of Wichita, KS, Stephanie Williams, Brendan Williams, Michelle Williams, and Ashdon Williams of Ft. Worth, TX, Amanda Lynn Williams and Marshall James Williams of Wichita, KS; brother, Richard Williams of Ashaway, RI; sisters Gail Kirkpatrick of Columbus, OH and Brenda Grodzicki of Salisbury, MD and numerous step children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice Williams and an infant daughter Angel Williams.
A memorial has been established with the American Legion Post #18 in Arkansas City. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
